ABC Responds To The Petition Against Raven-Symone

Raven-Symone’s controversial views have certaintly angered a lot of people as there is a petition to remove her from her co-hosting duties at ‘The View‘, which has reached over 120,000 signatures.

After admitting she wouldn’t hire someone with a “ghetto name” like “Watermelondrea” it was clearly the last straw when Ravens most recent view involved the school girl who was thrown across the classroom by officer Ben Fields for not handing over her phone. “There’s no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm, that’s ridiculous. But at the same time, you gotta follow the rules in school.” Raven said.

It is understandable why people are angry as it seems her negative comment towards the girl was her justifying what the officer did, but explaining that the girl should follow the rules does not immediately suggest she deserved what happened.

The petition states: “We need strong black role models in prominent positions on television and Raven-Symone cannot provide that.”

ABC have responded to the petitioners by defending Raven-Symone as they said: “We love Raven … she is confident, genuine and opinionated, all qualities that make her a great addition to the panel.”

Removing her job is a little over the top, but she may need to think harder before she talks. What do you think?
