Michelle Obama has released a charity single on iTunes called This Is For My Girls and she has brought together some of the biggest power-houses to feature on the track including: Missy Elliot, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae, Zendaya, Kelly Clarkson and Lea Michele. The song also includes new faces such as Jada Grace and the talented YouTube sensation Chloe & Halle.

The song was released just before her speech at the SXSW event on Wednesday (March 16), where she was accompanied by all the artists featured.

The girl power anthem is a “We Are the World meets Lady Marmalade” upbeat song written by Diane Warren and aims to spread empowerment alongside an important message about 62 million girls. The campaign Let Girls Learn founded by the Obama’s is a global call-to-action to provide schooling for the 62 million girls who are denied the ability to have an education. Through this song, they hope to spread awareness and raise money to break the cycle of poverty and break the barriers that are stopping girls from getting the education they deserve.

Along with the featured stars, Michelle Obama has shared various tweets to help spread the message of the powerful movement.
