Stormzy wins big at Brit Awards 2018

Grime artist Stormzy was the real star of this year’s Brit Awards, taking away awards for British Male Solo Artist and the grand prize of British Album of the Year for Gang Signs & Prayer – beating Ed Sheeran, who was nominated for both.

The south London artist also closed the show with a stunning live performance, in which he used his platform to criticise Prime Minister Theresa May’s response to the Grenfell Tower fire asking ‘Yo Theresa May, where’s the money for Grenfell?” Stormzy, 24, also used his stage time to criticise the Daily Mail newspaper (‘Daily Mail can suck my…’) and to celebrate Bafta winner and fellow Londoner, Daniel Kaluuya.

Another unforgettable performance at the Brits this year was by rapper, Kendrick Lamar. Lamar performed his track ‘FEEL’ and a Rich The Kid collab to ‘New Freezer’, which left social media baffled when the track restarted three times while a sign behind him read, “This is another satire by Kendrick Lamar”.

His performance added further confusion to viewers, after there being several technical difficulties, excessive muting and him being laid out on top of a box containing a car that ended up being smashed up.

However, Kendrick managed to walk away with the award for Best International Male Solo Artist, beating the likes of Drake, Childish Gambino, DJ Khaled and Beck.

Here’s a list of other Brits 2018 winners:
