Pride Loves: Marlon Roudette- ‘When The Beat Drops Out’

Marlon Roudette is a London born British/Vincentian musician, but spent most of his early years in the Caribbean, where his mother is from and where his love for reggae and soul music developed. After returning to London at the tender age of 17, he became part of a musical duo, Mattafix. Alongside Preetesh Hirji, the two combined reggae and dancehall with urban rhythms resulting in their single, ‘Big City Life’ peaking at number 15 in the UK. After his early success, Roudette branched out as a solo artist. His previous single, ‘New Age’ released from his 2011 studio album ‘Matter Fixed’, was an international hit. The single became number 1 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. His mainstream hits proved his ability as a solo artist.

Marlon is now known as one of the few artists signed to Simon Cowell’s label SyCo, without a background on X Factor or Britain’s Got Talent, the musical genius is set to take the UK charts by storm once again. His new single, ‘When The Beat Drops’ has already gained over 11 million views on Youtube and airplay on Capital FM. Roudette has proved that his skills have developed with maturity and experience.

His Pop, Reggae and Soul influences derive from his childhood in St. Vincent and the video for, ‘When The Beat Drops’ shows Roudette staying true to his Caribbean roots. The steel base drums can be seen and heard throughout, giving it a tropical vibe. The high views, bright scenery and beaches make it feel like a definite summer anthem. The retro touches and hypnotic flow will have you feeling like you are on holiday. With this level of achievement already under his belt as a solo artist, we are excited to see what else he has in store.

‘When The Beat Drops Out’ is out Sunday 1st March, available on iTunes.
