Janet Jackson’s Comeback

By Carla Cushnie

Janet Jackson is planning a full-scale comeback. She will return with her first album in seven years and an accompanying world tour this fall.

Janet Jackson announced on Wednesday that her new album would be released on her own label, Rhythm Nation Records, a partnership with BMG.

“With Rhythm Nation, Janet Jackson becomes arguably the first female African-American recording artist to form her own record label,” the company said in a statement. “At Rhythm Nation, Janet plans to offer a home to both new and established recording artists.”

Last month Janet Jackson released a teaser video for her musical re-appearance “I promised you’d hear it from my lips,” she said. “And now you will. This year: new music, new world tour, a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going.”
