Zimbabwe to see first female president?

Wife of President Mugabe, Grace Mugabe is rumoured to take over the presidency from her husband after he retires.

Grace Mugabe is rumoured to have plans in place for a takeover after claiming that she is wise council to her husband and his two deputies.  While at a housing project launch ceremony, Grace Mugabe was quoted as saying : “I am seeing that the calibre of the vice-presidents is now different. They are different in that just in the few months they have been in power, I have lost count of the times that I have sat down with them one-on-one to talk about the development of Zimbabwe”.

The first lady’s words are now seen as a sign by political annalists that she wishes to be in power. She has been described as ‘not to be underestimated’ as she shared a stage with two of the parties vice presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko in Harare last week.

Grace Mugabe entered into mainstream politics last year after she became Head of The Women’s League.

So far President Mugabe has denied the claims saying that his wife does not have any ambitions towards Zimbabwe’s presidency.
