Award winning and iconic group Sister Sledge is set to debut their new single Women Are The Music of the World at Care International’s ‘Walk In Her Shoe’s’ charity fundraiser event next month, in honour of International Women’s Day.
The event is a campaign for people to walk 10,000 steps a day for one week in March, in solidarity for women and girls in poor communities who take daily treks for water at the expense of having the opportunity to go to school or get paid work.
The event will include music, a special guest Q&A, a comedy performance and keynote speeches by influential female figures who globally highlight the issues women are faced with, such as Annie Lennox, Bianca Jagger and Helen Pankhurst (the great-granddaughter of Suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst) who will be leading the march.
Once the march is over, everyone will reconvene at The Scoop where the iconic group Sister Sledge, who spread the message of sisterhood, will delight their fans with a special finale performance.
Joni, Debbie and Kim Sledge said: “The song truly resonates with the message of Care International’s campaign that all women are strong and beautiful, and that music can truly unite people across the globe.”
The march on Sunday is open to everyone and takes place at 10am at The Scoop next to City Hall, London. To sign up please visit careinternational.org
