X Factor girl band ‘Rhythmix’ is possibly facing a legal battle due to them having the same name as an already established Brighton based charity who helps to use music to help disadvantaged young people.
The charitys chief executive Mark Davyd wrote an open letter to Simon Cowell and claimed that his company Simco had applied to trademark the name Rhythmix while aware that it was already in use and have asked that the group change their name as the X Factors decision to use the name would threaten the work of the charity.
X Factor producers have agreed to change the name of the girl group, saying in a statement: “At the request of the charity Rhythmix, the members of the girl group Rhythmix have decided to change their name, a decision which has the support of Syco and Talkback Thames.
“The group’s new name will be announced in due course.”
