Rapper Kanye West has managed to scoop up seven nominations including ‘Video Director of the Year’ at this year’s upcoming BET awards.
The Runaway rapper picked up additional nods for Best Collaboration with Big Sean as well as five nominations for Watch The Throne, his joint album with fellow rapper Jay-Z including Best Group, Best Video and the Coca Cola Viewer’s Choice award.
While West leads the pack for ROCNation, success clearly runs in his close-knit circle as Beyoncé follows with six nominations for her work on 2011’s 4 album. The Countdown singer is up for Best Female R&B Artist against the likes of Mary J.Blige, Rihanna, Melanie Fiona and Marsha Ambrosius. Other nominees include breakthrough artist Emeli Sandé, Cash Money/Young Money members Lil’ Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj and also R&B star Chris Brown who will be performing on the night
This year’s BET Award show will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on the 1st of July and will be hosted by film industry veteran Samuel L Jackson.
