Nicki Minaj revealed this week that as teenager she looked up to Jada Pinkett Smith, whilst urging her fans -whom she affectionately calls her “Barbz”not to grow up too soon.
She expressed her love for the actress during an appearance on Jay Leno’s talk show saying:”She just seems so well put together, mentally. Like every time I see her in interviews, she’s always had this thing about her that made me feel inspired.”
Aware of the weight of responsibility that comes with being a role model, Nicki warned her millions of teenage fans to savour their youth adding: “I want them to take it easy because I think when I was younger I thought I was missing out on something.”
It’s good to see a celebrity of Ms Minaj’s stature using her position to speak out positively to the younger generation, to counterbalance some of the less inspirational content in her music.
