Over the weekend of August 29th 2015, the Eastern Caribbean island of Dominica suffered from the Tropical Storm Erika causing devastation to the whole island. Communities were hit by flash floods and mudslides and bridges were swept out to sea. It is known that over 20 people have sadly died and over 80% of the island lost essential supplies such as electricity and water. Many villages have suffered from so much damage that the Government have said it could take “up to 20 years to repair”.
‘Doing It For Dominica‘ is a plan for action which was started by some key people in the UK music industry, many of whom have heritage links to the Caribbean.
The fundraising event will be taking place on Sunday 11th October 2015 at London’s Jazz Cafe in Camden. The evening will be full of entertainment, including live music, comedy, exclusive DJ sets and some of the most popular UK artists today, all coming together to raise money and support Dominica through the distressing tragedy. With the help of the Dominica High Commission, the funds raised will be sent to help with aid.
Some of the acts performing on the night are: Jermain Defoe, Bashy, DJ Seani B, Robbo Ranx, Martin Jay, DJ Ace, comedian Eddie Nestor, and Naughty Boy, with many more to be added.
Ticket donations are £20 in advance right here and available from the Jazz Cafe Box Office.
