Ken Livingstone has called for a London event similar to SXSW held in Texas every year. The technology, music and innovation hybrid event has brought in the like of many famous faces including Solange Knowles. The proposed bid for this event is a part of a document titled Protecting London’s Live Music for his Ken 4London campaign.
Livingstone: “What we don’t have is a music industry-based expo in the style of Austin Texas’s highly successful South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. My plan is to bring a little bit of Texas to the capital with a London Music Festival.
We think that a London based expo would be great exposure for the country as we’re leading up to the 2012 Olympic games. It would be another way to solidify people’s high aspirations and trust in London’s bid for the games.
