Africa in Motion Film Festival: Celebrating 10 Years

The African in Motion Film Festival (Aim) is Scotland’s major annual celebration of African Cinema. They are delighted to return this year to celebrate ten years of showcasing inspiring, thought provoking and creative cinema from the African continent.

The AiM festival will run from 23rd October – 1st November 2015, including not only a fantastic line up of films, but also director Q&A’s, masterclasses, music events, an African TV lounge, children’s workshops and more.

The festival will open with director Djibril Diop Mambety’s masterpiece Hyènes (Hyenas), an intimate story of love, revenge, and the effects of consumerism on African cultures. Hyenas is also presented as part of a special strand entitled ‘From Africa, with Love’ which is presented in association with the BFI’s LOVE Blockbuster Season, and the four other African film festivals in the UK, who hope to ignite the fire of love in your heart through cinema.

The screening will be followed by an opening party, an evening filled with African beats, circus acts, and African-style cocktails and snacks.

Since AiM’s launch in 2006, it has introduced nearly 30,000 audience members to the brilliance and diversity of African cinema.

This is a brilliant 10 day event which is the perfect end to Black History Month.
