BET presented the second annual ‘Black Girls Rock’ awards show. BGR celebrates the beauty of black women everywhere. Founder of BGR is former female DJ, model and philanthropist, Beverly Bonds, who wanted to create another inspiring, moving, motivational and an unforgettable night.
Hostesses on the night were sitcom’s ‘Girlfriends’ own Tracee Ellis Ross, and former ‘227’ actress Regina King. The two did a great job, wowing the audience with their dazzling outfit changes, and entertaining with their comical humour. The Paradise theatre in The Bronx, NY, flooded with A list celebrities and inspirational members of the community who came to support the event. Artist such as Mary J Blige, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Estelle and Lil Mama were some of many who turned up. Honorees such as Tatyana Ali and Taraji. P also enlighted the night.
The Babyboy actress Taraji. P acceptance speech was a touching moment as it left her in floods on tears. Taraji mentioned to the audience that, her award means the most to her, out of all the awards that she has or will receive.
