Fears of more Violence in the Capital after Third Night of Riots

Last night residents and business owners watched in horror as gangs of youngsters continued to terrorise the streets for a third night. The unacceptable behaviour escalated after a peaceful march that was led in honour of Mark Duggan shot and killed by a single bullet by the police in Tottenham, North London on Thursday night.

This has now developed into pure violence: looting, robbing, destroying and rebelling against the Police. Many believed this act of violence had nothing to do with the events in Tottenham. “Copy Cats” have imitated the riots in London in other parts of England such as Liverpool, Birmingham and Bristol who also faced severe damages and unbelievable violence.

Thousands of television viewers witnessed the immense fire of a family-run furniture store House of Reeves, which was established in 1867 destroyed and demolished by the fire in Croydon, Surrey.

The Debenhams department store in Clapham Junction, South London was also vandalised and looted, as hundreds of masked youths went on a rampage, smashing and breaking their way into many other small businesses nearby. The Party Store, opposite Debenhams was also a target as the gang of looters caused intense damages, stole masks to hide their identities and then set the place on fire.

The Sony Centre in Enfield, North London was set alight before partially collapsing after being raided and robbed by large groups of youths.

David Cameron from Downing Street declared “more than 16,000 officers will be on London streets on Wednesday”.
