Jay-Z was featured in GQ’s annual Men of The Year issue and was also named Man of The Year alongside Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon.
The Watch The Throne rapper gushed about becoming a father for the first time with his wife Beyonce Knowles. When asked about her now infamous VMA announcement, he said :” It was actually Bey who wanted to (announce it).” He added, “You want to be in control of your life.”
He also revealed that impeding fatherhood has got him thinking about his own childhood and his father walking out on him when he was 11. The rapper opened up and said it was the worst feeling as it made him feel like he didn’t have a father at all. “If your dad died before you were born, yeah it hurts – but it’s not like you had a connection with something that was real. Not to say it’s any better—but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero.” Jay says . It sounds like Jay has definitely learned from his father’s mistakes and hopes not to repeat them. When asked if he would be changing any diapers or would be putting a car seat in Maybach he smiled and said “Of course, of course. One hundred percent!”
Now wouldn’t that be a great picture…
