John Legend, Pharrel, Alicia Keys & Others Tackle Race In ‘Shining a Light’ Concert.

Following the attacks in Charleston, the suffering in Ferguson, Baltimore and New York and countless expressions of violence towards ethnic minorities, it is clear that racism is still a major issue.

‘Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America’ is a special U.S. event starring some of the biggest names in music who have come together to promote solidarity and progress on racial equity in order to encourage a positive change.

In L.A. on Wednesday night there were performances by artists of different races and ethnic backgrounds, such as Pharrel, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, Pink, Jill Scott, Tori Kelly, Nick Jonas, Big Sean and much more.

A+E Networks have created the Fund for Progress on Race in America Powered by the United Way ‘to support organisations and individuals working to heal historic racial divides’.

This concert was fantastic for not only spreading awareness and raising funds, but it was a significant and powerful movement to show that black lives really do matter, not just to black people but to every race.
