The MOBO Awards took place last night at a prestigious venue in Leeds for a night of music and cultural celebration.
To kick off the winners list we definitely have to take our hats (and wigs) off for the only female artist who won an award on the night; Miss Steflon Don! The UK ‘hurtin’ me’ rapper was nominated for three categories and won ‘Best Female Act’.
Amongst many well deserved winners such as Dave for Best Newcomer and J-Hus for Best song, Stormzy was a big winner at the MOBO’s as he received a triple win out of a possible 5.
The ‘Gang signs and prayer’ rapper took home the titles of ‘Best Male Act‘, ‘Best Grime Act’ and ‘Best Album’.
On winning album of the year he stated in his acceptance speech “this one means so much to me”.
He continued to recall “I put my life and soul into this album […] I bared everything for this album” and don’t we know it. It’s been an incredible year for Stormzy and what a brilliant way to end it.
It was a long and highly anticipated night, but to put you out of your misery…
