Pride’s Hayley Scott catches up with singer/song writer Ruby Goe who took five minutes away from the studio to answer a quick fire round of questions for Pride Online:
1. Hey Ruby, can you tell Pride readers a little bit about yourself? I am a singer/songwriter living in Hackney. I’m half English, half Nigerian. I grew up just outside of London, rasied by my dad with 4 brothers and sisters. I have huge passion for all kinds of music.
2) What are you currently working on, musically? I am currently running my own label Goe Goe Records and have just finished writing my first album, it’s a fusion of electro, pop, beat and bass.
3) Who or what are your biggest inspirations? Prince Miram Makeba, Nina Simone.
4) Where do you hope to be in the next 5 years time? Touring the world, my main objective is seeing as much of the world as possible with my music. I hope to still be writing, singing and creating interesting and fresh music.
5) Finally, what do you like most about Pride Magazine? Pride Magazine represents a hugely under represented part of our society but still manages to include rather than exclude all women. It’s a celebration of women from all ethnic backgrounds
Ruby Goe’s album will be available at the end of 2011.
