The joining of two cultures is always difficult but with Our Family Wedding not only highlights the difficulties but the comedic elements too. A newly engaged couple Lucia (America Ferrera) and Marcus (Lance Gross) are about to declare to their engagement to their families. However the news isn’t taken so well by their fathers. Two independently thinking, extremely competitive and ego driven men who can wreck an extreme amount of havoc on their special day.
With tempers flying high and insults been thrown it’s anyone’s guess to see if the two dads (forest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia) will be able to make it down the isle and support their children on their special day. Amidst all of this Lucia’s mother (Diana Maria Riva) is busy planing ‘her’ dream wedding and the only one who remains calm amongst it all is Angela (Regina King) who is the groom’s best friend and lawyer.
With this being Whitaker’s first comedic role it’s interesting to see him take on a new role and embrace being able to laugh at himself and immerse himself in the new role.
