Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba was finally discharged from hospital yesterday after spending 30 days fighting for his life after suffering a cardiac arrest during a tie with Tottenham Hotspurs. The 24 year old was ‘technically dead’ for 78 minutes with doctors battling valiantly to save his life.
During his stay at the London Chest Hospital, Muamba released pictures documenting his recovery. Thousands of well wishers came to the fore as tributes poured in for the well-liked player who is looking forward to recovering with his fiancé Shauna and the rest of his wedding. Muamba’s miraculous recovery is all the more poignant in light of the recent passing of Italian footballer, Livorno player Piermario Morosini, who died after collapsing on the field on Saturday. It is expected that Fabrice Muamba may recover enough to play again, although Bolton manager Owen Coyle has assured the public he will make sure the player will take it easy.
