YAY! Rihanna confirms new album is on the way…

Over the years, we have watched Rihanna’s growth as an artist. She has made her mark taking on other routes in the world of fame as well as music – the most recent example being a supporting role as a technical genius named ‘Nine Ball’ in new film ‘Ocean’s Eight’. Alongside her film career she has been completely slaying the game in the fashion and beauty industry with her Fenty Beauty make up range, and her lingerie collection Savage X Fenty.

However, what fans have been looking forward to most is some new music – it  has been two years since the release of the Bajan star’s most recent album, ANTI, album in 2016. And according to a new chat with Graham Norton, it may not be too long before some new Rih Rih tracks are dominating our speakers!

Appearing on the broadcaster’s chat show on Friday 15th June, Rihanna confirmed that she was currently working on new stuff in the studio. After Norton asked if there was any chance of new music, Rih jokingly responded, ‘Who sent you? I know one of my fans got to you!’ before confirming the news we all wanted to hear: ‘I’m actually in the studio at the moment.’

Altogether now: YAAAAAAS!

Rihanna made reference to possible new music in an interview with Vogue magazine earlier this year, by saying that she was hoping to focus some new music in the reggae genre. She spoke of the immense inspiration she takes from of the Jamaican musical icon, Bob Marley and also Supa Dups, a music producer who produced her 2016 collaboration with Drake, ‘Too Good’.

The name of the singer’s album has not been confirmed, but her ‘Navy’ fanbase have dubbed it #R9 for now, seeing as this will be her ninth studio album. Any other further information about the album, the singer has not spoken on it yet so it is just a waiting matter to see what new flavours she’ll be bringing to the table.

Throughout her music Rihanna has always shown to keep strong links with her Caribbean roots, demonstrated through songs such as ‘Man Down’, ‘Pon De Replay’, and everlasting summer tune ‘Work’ – so we’re confident she’ll be able to knock a reggae album out of the park!
