Music mogul, Jay Z has created a new playlist available on music platform Tidal. The playlist titled ‘Songs for Survival’ was created in reaction to the social injustice black people are currently facing in the US. The playlist includes his new single ‘Spiritual’, which he intended to release after the death of Mike Brown. Along with the release of the new single Jay Z gave an introduction to the story behind it, in which he said: “I’m saddened and disappointed in this America we should be further along. WE ARE NOT. I trust in God and know everything that happens is for our greatest good, but man… it’s tough right now. Blessings to all the families that lost loved ones to police brutality.” In a true show of solidarity, and not just self interest, Jay has made the single and his message available on the Tidal landing page, meaning even those who are not subscribed to the service can listen.
The ‘Songs for Survival’ playlist also includes a short, sweet and melancholy melody from Emeli Sande, also available to hear without Tidal subscription on their home page.
