Congratulations are in order for Stacie Aamito who was recently crowned Africa’s Next Top Model.
The Ugandan model beat out 11 others vying for the throne hailing from eight different nations across the continent (including three contestants from Nigeria and two from South Africa, and made history as the winner of the first ever Africa’s Next Top Model. As part of the prize, the 20-year-old wins a contract with New York’s DNA Model Management, a one-year contract as an ambassador for South African tourism, $50,000 (£30,000) prize money, and an endorsement deal with P&G.
The African chapter of the successful Next Top Model series, which is headed up by Nigeria’s answer to Tyra Banks, Oluchi Onweagba, scored hit ratings during its run, and will hopefully provide a platform to propel African models to international attention and success.
