Taraji P. Henson was awarded a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama TV Series for the very first time, though I’m sure it didn’t turn out how she expected.
After the Empire actress happily handed out cookies as she made her way to accept her award, her long train dress was accidentally stepped on (for the second time that evening) yanking her backwards.
She quickly dismayed the issue, though seconds later Taraji was asked to round off her speech by the teleprompter, to which she sharply responded “Please wrap?”.
She continued: “Wait a minute. I waited 20 years for this. You gon’ wait. My fans been praying for this. You gotta give me time.” She demanded: “Yeah, you gon’ give me a little more time.” – and rightfully so.
This was a massive moment for Henson and she deserved to live in that moment a little while longer; she handled it like the sassy and feisty character she is.
Taraji continued her speech thanking a list of people including her fans and ended with a special mention to her Empire crew – “I am taking this home for the entire Empire. Terrence Howard I am nothing without you. Cookie is nothing without Lucious.”
