The American actress and voice actress, known for playing Rue in The Hunger Games has surprised us with her new and first EP ‘HoneyWater’. Who knew she was a singer/songwriter and to top it off a musician too!
Amandla Stenberg used Twitter to announce her debut with her best friend last week. The name of her ‘best friend’ is unknown, as she did not state his name nor mention him on Twitter. However, along with the tweet, she attached a picture of what seems to be the official EP cover of ‘HoneyWater’, which included both herself and her best friend posing with their own instruments, the violin and the guitar.
The EP consists of 4 songs and comes under the genre of ‘Traditional Folk’, exclusively released on iTunes at £0.99 ($1.29) per song. As a whole, the EP is very calm and soothing, with the use of beautiful instruments played together alongside angelic harmonised voices.
The 16 year old who recently voiced her opinion on Kylie Jenner’s cornrows, amongst other opinions on black appropriation, has kept her secret talents under wraps; though it looks like she’s revealing all! Amandla tweets: “Honeywater has given me the opportunity to grow as a violinist and vocalist, to push myself and be adventurous. I hope you enjoy”.
