Underground singing sensation Abel Tesfaye, more commonly known as R&B singer The Weeknd had the blogosphere buzzing today after making his new mixtape “Echoes of Silence” available online. The new mixtape completes a trilogy of releases that also include “House of Balloons” and “Thursday”. Despite his smooth and self-assured vocal style it seems that the singer was still worried about how his fans would react to the musical direction taken on the mixtape tweeting:”i hope they don’t hang me for my decisions on #echoesofsilence”. His sentiments were proved unfounded as fans were thrilled with his latest offering –a cover of Michael Jackson’s hit “Dirty Diana” proving particularly popular. Featuring the likes of fellow Toronto native Drake as well as Danny Brown and Californian rap troupe Death Grips, the enigmatic singer is certainly one to watch for 2012.
