The fact that he’s not as widely known these shores doesn’t seem to have dented Tyler Perry’s bank balance one bit. The American film director, famed for films such as the ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family, ‘Why Did I Get Married’ and last year’s ‘For Colored Girls’, reportedly made $80 million last year according to Forbes list of the richest people in entertainment.
The 42 year old surprised many with his inclusion on the Forbes list. Though his films are commercially successful, they have garnered mixed reviews from industry heads and film critics. One of Perry’s most ardent supporters is media mogul Oprah Winfrey, which may go some way to explaining his widespread appeal. Tyler Perry, no doubt eager to follow in Winfrey’s footsteps is planning to launch his own network.
Others who made the list include Simon Cowell with $90million, Steven Spielberg with $107million and Tiger Woods with $75million.
