Black Eyed Peas star, Will.I.Am has admitted to using autotune to enhance his singing voice, after being grilled on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man about his “lack of” vocal abilities.
The Voice judge and coach who was paid a rumoured £200,000 to appear on the BBC show said that autotune helps him to work faster when he is in the studio and is performing. “I use autotune because I write and produce. The computer allows me to make music singing myself and not wait around for singers to come and sing it,” he confessed.
Carr, who had interviewed the Black Eyed Peas star on an autotune mic, had Will.I.Am jokingly defend himself by saying “It’s just an effect!” with the star later adding, “But I am working on, you know, my singing abilities.”
The Voice has suffered a dip in viewer ratings but is expected to be given a boost this weekend with guest performances from Cheryl Cole and Kylie Minogue.
