If you’re looking for a touch of cool culture this weekend, This Is Spoke has something right up your street…
In case you’re unfamiliar, This Is Spoke is an uncensored, twelve-part podcast series hosted by fearless author The Slumflower and spoken word artist Suli Breaks. Together, they explore today’s most important issues; everything from cancel culture, micro aggressions to mental health to problematic faves and youth culture. These topics are discussed with guests including some of the UK’s hottest musicians and writers: Munroe Bergdorf, Poppy Ajudha and Maverick Sabre just to name a few.
And this weekend, on Saturday the 17th November, the dynamic duo will be teaming up with the likes of Ghetts, Raleigh Ritchie and Emma Dabiri to bring us all an interactive pop-up event, live and in person!
This will be a day of idea sharing and debate as special guests, actor Raleigh Ritchie (Game of Thrones) and author Emma Dabiri (‘Don’t Touch My Hair’) will be in conversation with The Slumflower and Suli Breaks for an exclusive live recording of the podcast.
The live event will include a special performance from highly acclaimed Grime artist Ghetts, who will be joined by Lava La Rue and West London rapper Nine8. And if that weren’t enough, the performance is followed by DJ sets from record maker, player and mixer Martelo (NTS Radio) and Antonia Odunlami (Worldwide FM).
This Is Spoke will also host a number of pop-up shops and interactive workshops, including a zine workshop by Enlarge Your Memories and a merch workshop by Tottenham Textiles. For the book lovers there will be a special book stall pop up in collaboration with local bookstores, hosted by the renowned publisher Penguin Books.
Tickets for this exciting event are now available on Dice and See Tickets, from £5. See you there!
